New Students Guide

A guide to answer questions commonly asked by new students at Florida Tech.

Parking & Transportation

How do you plan to get around campus (and around town)?

Look below for information on:

Parking on Campus

Parking on campus car requires that your car display a current parking decal.  This may be purchased through the Department of Security.  Consult the following website for an overview of campus parking and instructions on how to register your car to receive a parking decal.

The campus is divided into a series of parking zones.  You should park in zones authorized by your parking decal.

Parking spaces designated for on-campus students are bounded on either side with yellow lines.  Off-campus students may park in spaces bounded by white lines.  Cars should be parked head-first in the parking spot (i.e. with the back of the car facing the driving lane).

Students must comply with all regulations specified on the Parking and Traffic Regulations website.

Bicycles and Skateboards

Bicycles and skateboards are a popular way of getting around campus.  Students choosing these modes of transportation should be sure to adhere to Florida Tech's Bicycle and Skateboard Regulations.

To assist students in maintaining their bicycles, Fix-it/Pump-it Bicycle Stations with air pumps and some basic tools are provided in a number of locations on the Florida Tech campus.  To find the nearest station:

  1. Go to the campus map.
  2. Click on the Menu icon near the top to display a menu along the left side of the page.
  3. Click on Bicycle Repair Stations to display all locations on campus.

At the end of the Fall and Spring semesters, be sure not to leave your bicycle in any of the outdoor bicycle racks, as this will result in your bicycle being confiscated.

Campus Trolley

The Panther Trolley and Shuttle provides free transportation within the Florida Tech campus.  The trolley routes cover not only the main part of campus but also extend north to the Bisk Business School.

Pictured below is an example of the signs marking trolley stops on campus.  Both the signs and the trolley, seen in the background of the image, are painted crimson red, the color of Florida Tech.  The trolleys are designed to resemble San Francisco trolley cars.

Space Coast Area Transit

One option for those who wish to travel outside of campus is the area public bus system, Space Coast Area Transit.  College students quality for a discount on the regular fare.
