• The alt text for a book cover used as a decorative image only (those used in the "books" assets from Syndetics ) should be "book cover."
• The alt text for a book cover without the title written next to it might be its title.
• Use an empty alt attribute if the book cover has the title written next to it.
• Use an empty alt attribute if the book cover is next to a catalog text link.

According to SpringShare, “If the image is a screenshot of a database or catalog, with annotations add descriptive information around the image, leave the alt text field empty”.
