Responsible and Ethical Use

In addition to learn which tools are the most appropriate for your task, you must learn to use them ethically and responsibly. Familiarize yourself with the Florida Tech students' guidelines for Responsible Use of  Gen AI in Academic Work. The guidelines cover:

Course Policies & Academic Integrity

  • To use generative AI tools, follow the instructor's guidelines.
  • Using GenAI tools without approval is considered academic misconduct.

Disclosure of Generative AI Use

  • Clearly state which GenAI tools you used and how they contributed to your work 
  • Follow citation requirements - MLA, APA.

Ethical Standards & Data Privacy

  • You are accountable for the accuracy and originality of your work. 
  • Do not enter personal, confidential, or university data.

Equitable Use

  • If your class requires a GenAI tool, discuss any concerns about accessibility or availability with your instructor.

Enhancing Learning with Generative AI

  • Use GenAI tools to support your learning, not to replace it. 
  • Apply GenAI thoughtfully to strengthen your critical thinking, creativity, and understanding of the topic.
