Successful Research Grant Planning

Assembling Winning Proposals

Overview: Successful Research Grant Planning

This resource has been created to assist you in identifying and obtaining available research grant funding.  As reflected in the tabs at the top of this page, the information provided with this guide has been divided into 3 categories, as follows:

  • Identify Grant Opportunities
    • The Evans Library contains several comprehensive and annually updated print resources for those seeking grant funding associated with particular areas of study/research, regions of the country, recipient status, etc,
    • The U.S. Government has a variety of online resources related to available grant funding and procedures for applying.
    • Online resources are also available for identifying grant funding opportunities from the private sector.  While many of these resources are databases requiring a subscription, others are free.
  • Writing Competitive Proposals
    • Obtaining grant funding requires the preparation of proposals that both address the requirements established by the grant provider and positively differentiate your proposal from competing proposals.
