For this library service, distance learners are defined as those taking classes or employed through Florida Tech and residing outside of Brevard County, Florida.
Articles not available electronically but available in print journals in the library are made available to distance learners via Document Delivery. Please request these articles via our interlibrary loan service and select your appropriate status in order to be eligible for Document Delivery. You will be notified by email when your scanned article is available in your interlibrary loan account.
Many electronic books (ebooks) are available to you online via the library's catalog and do not need to be checked out.
Physical books in the Evans Library can be checked out and shipped to distance learners. In order to check out physical books from the Evans Library you will first need to acquire a Florida Tech ID card (Panther Card). The card is made available at no charge to distance learners.
The Florida Tech Panther Card functions simultaneously as your ID Card and library card. Your Student Number (900 number) is also your library card number. If you are unable to obtain a card at the Florida Tech main campus, please fill out the online application here. You will need your TRACKS username and password to access the card registration site.
If you have any questions regarding the process of acquiring a Panther Card, please contact Campus Services at 321-674-8926 or visit their website directly.
Items sent to you will be checked out for a period of 30 days, including the transit time both ways.
Articles are delivered electronically free of charge.
If you need a book from our physical collection, the Evans Library will pay to ship it to you within the United States. However, you are responsible for paying return shipping charges. Please ship using a secure method in which the package may be tracked, such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS. You will be responsible for any charges incurred due to loss, damage, or late returns.
You may submit an interlibrary loan request for articles that are not available in the Evans Library's print or electronic collections. Articles will be delivered electronically via the interlibrary loan service.
The Evans Library will accept interlibrary loan requests from distance learners for books, DVDs, and other physical items that are not available in the Evans Library IF you are able to personally pick them up and return them at the Evans Library iDesk. We are unable to ship items that do not belong to the Evans Library. Accomodations can be made in special circumstances.
